TIME

>Deadlines
-These need to be met and planned in order for a shoot to go smoothly.
-If a shoot runs over, finance could become an issue as actors, locations and equipment need to be kept for a longer amount of time which will impact the finance and budget
-There will be a production manager on set to make sure everything runs smoothly
>Availability of equipment
-Make sure all equipment is booked prior to shoot such as transport to location, power etc so time is not wasted during the shoot

>Personnel
-Need to make sure all cast and crew know what time to be at a shoot so it can be done quickly and efficiently.
-Make sure they all sign contracts and have a copy of a call sheet

>Contingency plans
-Need to be considered if a shoot is disrupted, E.G. If it rains when shooting outside. If there is no secondary plan time and money will be wasted.

>Timescales
-Different types of media productions will have different timescales which need to be considered - the more locations used the longer it will take to shoot
-They need to be realistic - pick ups shots may need to be shot or reshoots. Post production can also take a long time - time needs to be considered for improvements

>Here is an example of a call sheet which is given to cast and crew so they know where to be at what time.

PERSONNEL

>Insurance

-Cast and crew insurance needs to be considered incase someone gets injured or has an accident on set and can then be protected financially.

>Experts
On site experts are needed such as medics, animal trainers, lighting managers, hair, makeup etc it order for the shoot to run smoothly.

>Legalities
-Legal production release forms - any footage, sound that is shot is allowed to be shown to an audience and during filming that footage has to stay within the film set so it doesn't get lost or stolen.

>Under 18's
- Children under the age of 10 have to have parents on set. Children can only be on set for 8 hours a day but only 5 of that can be spent filming. The remaining hours involve resting, having meals and getting an education. Babies being used can't be on set for any longer than one hour at a time which is why twins are usually used. E.G. The baby who played Emma in Friends.

LOCATIONS
>Permits and permissions
-For filming on location, a crew will need permits and permission from the owner of that land to produce whatever is shot there and use their facilities. This needs to be sorted early on incase these owners don't want their location to be used.

>Insurance
-Insurance should be taken out on locations being used incase there is an accident on set. This could be a fire that could destroy all equipment which would need to be paid for.
>Power and electricity
Before filming on a location there needs to be confirmation of sources of electricity for equipment. Without this the operation will not run smoothly.

>Recces
In order for projects to run smoothly location recces need to be put together to to recognise the positives and potential negatives such any dangers. A thorough risk assessment should also be carried out

-Trucks and vans are needed for transporting equipment and transport is needed to get cast and crew from location to location if there is lots of moving about. Routes need to be checked incase there are roadworks. diversions etc.

>Food
-Catering is important as shoots can go on for a long time. A catering team should be accessible for breakfast, lunch and dinner and there should be access to food and water at all times.

>Lodging
-If shoots are going on for a long period of time in the same place there should be places for sleeping available to cast and crew. Trailers are often used to house actors.

>Changing rooms
-Dressing rooms should be available for the cast and makeup and costume rooms. These, if not in studio, should be adapted from rooms on location. This will usually be trailer.

>Bathrooms
-There should be bathrooms accessible on set at all times as shoots can go on for very long hours. Portable loos will be hired for this.
