Any original or archived materials that are used within digital media.

Audio archives are found in music, podcasts, radio interviews etc. An example of when sound materials would be used in the digital media industry is in film. Songs from artists will be used for background music in scenes.

Video and photo archives include animatics, graphics, interviews and photo-library archives such as old pictures. An example of when these will be used is in documentaries. They will be used to back up information in those documentaries.

Websites such as British Council Film have collections or archived materials that are on hand to producers. This helps them easily and quickly source materials

A very important part of using original and archived materials is making sure you adhere to the laws surrounding them. Before using these materials, producers will need permission from the owner. E.G. Getting clearance from the artist of a song
